We are thrilled to announce the publication of our latest study in ACS ES&T Engineering, "Degradation and Defluorination of Ultra Short-, Short-, and Long Chain PFASs in High Total Dissolved Solids Solutions by Hydrothermal Alkaline Treatment-Closing the Fluorine Mass Balance." Read the paper here: https://hubs.la/Q02Wyc9b0.
This study highlights HALT’s ability to completely destroy high concentrations of PFAS in a complex wastewater stream containing long-, short-, and ultra short-chain PFAS. ✅ Our team, in collaboration with 3M subject matter experts, used an array of analytical techniques to confirm exceptional closure of the fluorine mass balance and optimize HALT for challenging industrial applications.
In this study, HALT successfully treated a synthetic, high total dissolved solid (TDS) matrix containing very high PFAS concentrations, ranging from 726 to 1,380 ppm, with a significant presence of ultra short-chain PFASs like TFA and PFPrA. These results underline HALT’s power to destroy and mineralize unique PFAS compounds under relatively mild conditions, proving it effective for some of the most challenging wastewater streams. 💧
We are incredibly appreciative of the 3M team, for their collaboration on this paper and support with this study. 👏
