Biden-Harris Admin finalized the first-ever national, legally enforceable drinking water standard

April 15, 2024

📢 Pivotal news released today in the PFAS community. The Biden-Harris administration finalized the first-ever national, legally enforceable drinking water standard to protect communities from exposure to PFAS. The EPA is setting enforceable Maximum Contaminant Levels in drinking water to 4 parts per trillion for two common types of PFAS; PFOA and PFOS. For PFNA, PFHxS, and “GenX Chemicals,” the EPA is setting the MCLGs and MCLs at 10 parts per trillion.

This ruling will reduce PFAS exposure to approximately 100 million people, preventing tens of thousands of serious illnesses and thousands of deaths. In addition to today's ruling, the EPA is announcing nearly $1 billion in newly available funding to help states implement PFAS testing and treatment at public water systems to address PFAS contamination.

We applaud the EPA for taking action. This is a critical milestone in the PFAS treatment industry, and this is the first step that will drive change to safeguard public heath. We're absolutely thrilled to see this news, and it's been long anticipated since Aquagga was founded.
